Peter Meier Inc. (PMI) is an industry leader in design and engineering in providing specialized, functional, and elegant products influenced by European design and translated for the American market. This company boasts thirty years of expertise and tireless work in finding solutions for all your furniture needs. Whether for business or personal use, you can find what you need in the catalog of PMI products.
PMI prides itself on making strong and durable products made with sturdy materials and easy to assemble, like table bases. Keep reading to learn about PMI outdoor table bases, their functionality, and the catalog of styles and accessories offered.
When considering purchasing tables for your restaurant, business, or personal patio, you want to find the right aesthetic and functionality that will suit your space and decor style. Not all tables come in one piece; this allows for more control in style and customization. Buying table bases separate from table tops allow you to mix and match to your heart’s desire.
The types of table bases that will be ideal for outdoor use are made with durable materials, like stainless steel, stamped steel, and aluminum. They will also be water and corrosion-resistant. Other factors to consider in addition to rain and moisture are sun exposure and temperature.
If you have a covered patio, it can help maintain the longevity of the table base by keeping the tables out of the rain and heat. Keeping your table bases dry will help prevent rust or warping, and keeping them out of the direct sun will help prevent fading, heat retention, and cracking.
The outdoor table base you choose needs to have a balance of weight so that it doesn’t wobble, but it’s still easy to move should the tables need to be rearranged. They have to hold up to the weight of whatever table top you choose without buckling, and it’s a major bonus if it’s adjustable.
The type of table bases that PMI offers are round, X-style, and square. They are made from either aluminum, stainless steel, stamped steel, or steel powder coated. They are available in table, bar, and custom-cut heights. Some styles that are available in a matte black finish also have the option of custom colors upon request.
There are different accessories that can accompany the table bases for installing table tops or leveling your table. A premium product, the PronToe® Table Leveler, allows you to adjust the level of the table with your foot. Let’s take a deep look into PMI tables bases and accessories.
PMI has over a hundred premium table bases available in different heights, like table, bar, counter, and custom, and materials, including stainless steel, aluminum, cast iron, and more. Every base is easy to assemble, but accessory options can be added to cut down on assembly time. While the table base catalog has options for indoor and outdoor restaurants, this list will focus on the table bases that are corrosion-resistant and can be used in covered outdoor patio settings.
Aluminum table bases are suitable for both indoors and outdoors and come in a brushed finish. There are two table base options for both table and bar heights, 20″ and 22″. Both feature a trumpet base, and either can be custom cut down to height.
There are three different bolt-down series, but only one is suitable for covered outdoor restaurant patios, the 4008 Stainless Steel Bolt Down. This bolt-down unit comes in a brushed finish and has counter, table, and bar heights available. Custom cut down is available for this style for an additional fee, and hardware is included with the option of stainless steel hardware upgrade.
There is one style in the stamped steel series that is suitable for outdoors, the new Stamped Steel Outdoor table base Labor Saver System. This style comes in a stamped steel design with a smooth matte black finish, a zinc undercoat, and an outdoor powder coat. This series is a labor saver because the column and top plate are welded together, so it only requires one bolt to assemble to the base plate.
There are five different styles of stainless steel table bases, including the latest style, the 8030 Series Nesting X Line. Let’s look at each series and how they differ:
This style is made of #304 stainless steel with a brushed finish. It features a round base and is available in different table and bar heights. This style can be custom cut, and stainless steel hardware is available if needed.
This style is made of #201 stainless steel with a brushed base plate with a polished column finish. A black matte finish is also available in this style. It features a round base, a steel top plate, and an adjustable pneumatic foot pedal with a lock mechanism in the manual column. Due to the mechanism, this style can not be custom cut. However, table and bar heights are all-in-1.
This style is made of #304 stainless steel with a brushed finish. It features a square base and a round column, although there is a style with a square column too. Both table and bar heights are available, as well as custom cut. Stainless steel hardware is available if needed.
New to the line, this style is made from #201 stainless steel with a brushed finish, though custom colors are available upon request. It features a style X base, which is designed to be nested with other bases like it, a mounting plate with a flip-top mechanism, and four locking casters. Table and bar heights are available; however, this style can not be custom cut.
There are two series in the steel powder-coated model, and they are both suitable for use in a covered outdoor restaurant patio. Let’s look at these two styles and how they differ:
This round table base style is steel powder coated in a smooth matte black finish with a zinc undercoat. Custom colors are also available upon request. It features a round base with optional stainless steel hardware. Table and bar heights are available, as well as custom cuts.
This square table base style is steel powder coated in a smooth matte black finish with a zinc undercoat. Custom colors are also available upon request. It features a square base with the option of stainless steel assembly hardware. Table and bar heights are available, as well as custom cuts.
Peter Meier Inc. introduces a new product, PronToe® Table Leveler, the best table leveler in the industry. This product will keep any table base balanced and is easily adjustable with just your foot. Made from high-impact thermoplastic over a mold stainless steel insert, this leveler has a 180 lbs load capacity per leveler and a 7/16″ adjustment range. Compatible with all PMI and X-style table bases with ¼” – 20 thread. Each box or Polybag includes four 1″ levelers and mounting hardware. It’s an easy three piece assembly and the only tool you’ll need for installation is a screwdriver.
Though there are three styles of foot rings available, only one complements the outdoor table base models, the Foot Ring for Stainless Steel Columns 3″. This foot ring is easy to install and comes with all the mounting hardware needed. The diameter of the foot ring is 10″ X 12″.
The Click Catch Table Top Connector is an interlocking mechanism that allows you to join two flat panels or table tops together with a flush seam. The latch and bracket are zinc plated and measure at a 5 ⅞” diameter. The bracket itself can be sold separately for multiple connecting positions.
The Conny Table Top Connector is an interlocking mechanism that allows you to join two flat panels or table tops together with a flush seam. The connector is sold in a set at 3 ½” diameter each since a set of two makes one complete connection. Be aware that screws are not included in the set and will need to be purchased separately.
Glass Table Top Adapters are made specifically for the stainless steel bases and allow you to mount a glass table top onto the base. The adapter comes in 90mm and 220mm sizes with a 12mm thread.
The Flip-Flop Table Top Hinge allows you to convert a square table to a round table by connecting table leaves in the horizontal position. The hinge is steel and features a strong spring assist to lift and lock the leaf in a level position with the tabletop. It can also lock the leaf underneath when not in use. There is only one hinge per pack at 7 ½” in length, but you may need multiple if more than one table leaf is added. Be aware that screws are not included in the box and will need to be purchased separately.
Peter Meier Inc. has a full catalog of table bases and accessories that would suit any business, restaurant, or personal need. Choosing any of the table bases from this list would not only provide functionality to your outdoor patio space but durability and simple elegance. PMI provides innovation with their accessories to help you assemble your tables faster and allow you to accommodate your needs and the needs of your customers.
