STAFF ACCOUNTANT

Staff Accountant Responsibilities:

  • Process accounts payable checks and wire payments weekly and maintain the bank account fraud service application.
  • Prepare cash flow projections and cash indicators, which management reviews weekly.
  • Compile commission reports monthly.
  • Maintain resale certificates and reconcile transactions per month.
  • Maintain backup for assets and keep accounts updated.
  • Process bi-weekly payroll, update earnings and deductions, and manage employee onboarding and offboarding as needed.
  • Verify freight invoices and research discrepancies and correspond with freight carriers for corrections.
  • Post journal entries to the general ledger as needed.
  • Manage health insurance, property/liability, worker compensation, and other benefit/contract services.
  • Monitor/Manage employee 401k plan account.
  • Ad hoc analysis and reporting as requested in-house or by federal/state agencies, e.g., census reports, workers’ compensation audits, etc.
  • Assist AR with invoices, mail backup price lists, and other duties as requested and as feasible.
  • Assist the Purchasing department with purchase order receipts, landed cost calculations, related freight invoicing, and other duties as feasible.
  • Contribute to a team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

 

Job Requirements/Skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, business, or related field.
  • 5+ years as a general ledger accountant with a complete understanding of journal entries and their impact on financial statements.
  • General ledger software experience.
  • Profitability and product analysis.
  • Excellent Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
